Central Gauteng Athletics in conjuction with the University of Johannesburg is preparing for the talent identification Track & Field meeting.
The event targets kids in the age group 6 - 17 years who never participated in the any track & field event and also those that might have potential talent in any of these events.
The event will be held at the famous University of Johannesburg Track & Field Stadium, Soweto Campus on the 19 November 2011.
The events to focus on are the following:
- Sprints
- Middle & Long Distances
- Jumps: Long Jump, Triple Jumps & high Jumps
- Throws: Javelin, Discuss & Shot Put
- Talent Identification techniques
The plan is to consolidated the potential athletes of the day and channel them to one of the academy structure to be finalised by Provincial Department of Sports, Education together with the Central Gauteng Athletics. Also the aim is to emphasise the synergy and importance of sports and education. The meeting will also be of importance to the schools track & field calendar which commence from early February 2012.
Central Gauteng Athletics will be providing transport to cater all areas that fall under its jurisdiction like the Ekurhuleni, Midrand, Joburg Central, South and North, and West Rand.
The event will be held under ASA & CGA rules respectively.
Spectators over 18 years will pay R10.00.
